ADMISSION INTO THE BASIC MIDWIFERY PROGRAM IS CONDUCTED YEARLY
ADVERTISEMENT:

Following a timeline submitted to the Provost/ Deputy Provost of the College for approval, the admission process commences with the advertisement for sales of forms in one of the National newspapers in the month of September. The sales of form last for 6 weeks.

WRITTEN EXAMINATION:

This is carried out two (2) weeks following the end of the sales of forms. The examination covers the English Language, Mathematics, Sciences, Nursing and General Knowledge.
Candidates must pass the Entrance Examination into the Department of Midwifery which is a Computer Based Test (CBT).

ORAL INTERVIEW:

This is carried out a week following the release of the result of successful candidates in the written examination. A panel comprising of five senior officers in Nursing and representatives of the Ministry of Education and Health conduct the oral interview. This is to identify abilities in the candidates which are essential to the responsibilities of the student midwife. These include but not limited to critical thinking and communication skills.

BASIC ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

(i) Candidates must possess Senior Secondary School Certificate with at least five (5) credits in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology in not more than two sittings from NECO, WAEC, GCE, and /or NABTEB
(ii) Candidates shall be between the ages of 18 and above
(iii) Candidates must pass the written examination and oral interview with a cutoff point determined by the panel of interviewers.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Sequel to meeting the basic admission requirement outlined above, the successful candidates must meet the benchmark as set in (iii) above
The final selection of the candidate for admission is based on Merit
Discretion of the proprietors of the College
Number of students for admission is based on the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria's assigned quota for each School.
This is at the ratio 1: 10 of registered lecturers to students in the classroom and clinical setting.
On Admission, students are responsible for their school fees, textbooks and other writing materials needed in the course of their training.
