CAPPING AND STRAPPING OF YEAR 2022 STUDENT MIDWIVES

LASCON celebrated newly capped midwives and announced upcoming OND/HND programs. The Provost urged graduates to uphold excellence, while Dr. Omo-Ojo emphasized their role in addressing climate change's impact on maternal health. The nursing association called for government support in infrastructure, accreditation, and scholarships. Graduates are offered automatic employment, highlighting the State's commitment to the nursing profession.

LAGOS STATE COLLEGE OF NURSING INDUCTS NEW NURSE EDUCATORS

LASCON Provost, Mrs. Orenuga, urged newly inducted nurse educators to be disciplined, diligent, and cooperative. She emphasized the importance of commitment to duty and adherence to civil service rules. Mr. Olaegbe, a Director with the Ministry of Establishment and Training, guided the inductees through the civil service rules. Mrs. Owolabi, representing the Ministry of Justice, administered the Oath of Secrecy. The inductees expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve.

LASG URGES BETTER ETHICAL NURSING PRACTICE

LASCON held its first matriculation as a tertiary institution, with 80 nursing students entering OND/HND programs. Barr. Wahab congratulated students, highlighting government support for quality education. Provost Orenuga detailed the program and urged excellence, noting investments in facilities. Dr. Akintoyese's speech emphasized emotional intelligence and resilience for success.

The PS (PHC) Dr. IbrahimMustapha, the Provost (LASCON) Mrs Oyefunso Orenuga and members of Staff of LASCON and PHCB at the stakeholders meeting held in Alausa recently.

Dr. Mustapha praised LASCON for well-trained students and requested increased enrollment. Provost Orenuga explained that intake is limited by resource constraints and advocated for improved community facilities for HND accreditation. She also requested student accommodation and internship opportunities.

LASCON GOVERNING COUNCIL HOLDS MAIDEN MEETINGE

Governor Sanwo-Olu's newly appointed Governing Council for LASCON held its first meeting. Chairman Prof. Edet commended the College's progress and sought staff cooperation. Dr. Ofi praised infrastructure upgrades. Provost Orenuga expressed gratitude for the Council's appointment and pledged full cooperation. The Council's formation is key for HND and PHN program accreditation.

LASCON Provost, Mrs. Orenuga, advised the new leadership of NANS-JCC Lagos to be accountable, transparent, and prioritize dialogue over agitation. She encouraged them to focus on programs that uplift students' standards. Orenuga explained that LASCON's student government would join NANS later due to the nature of the nursing profession. NANS-JCC Chairman, Comrade Idris, expressed gratitude for the meeting and emphasized his commitment to students' interests, welfare, and a conducive academic environment through dialogue.

LASCON CONDUCTS CBT ENTRANCE EXAM FOR CANDIDATES

292 candidates sat for the Lagos State College of Nursing (LASCON) Midwifery entrance exam, held at the LASU CBT Centre. Provost Orenuga addressed the candidates, emphasizing the importance of responsible conduct and adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols. She stressed the significance of the midwifery profession and its connection to human life. The exam was monitored by representatives from various health agencies. Online applications were accepted from December 1, 2020, to January 7, 2021.
